Day 1
July 15th 2013... we arrive in London on the "Tube" from Heathrow- a long ride. Logan suggested we come up for air mid way so we dragged our bags up from the Picadilly Line and surfaced in Leister Square.
Following an afternoon nap in our hotel room in New Cross (sort of ghetto outside London) we met up with Glen Milburn (the reason we are here) for a quick trip into London just to check things out.
Day 2
Day 2 began at about noon as we were still on east coast time. We took our train from New Cross into London where we met Glen on his lunch break, bought a brunch picnic from Pret a Manger and found a shady spot along the Thames to enjoy.
On to the tourist stops:
The Tower of London
Guarding the Crown Jewels |
Tower Bridge
We had hoped to get in to the Globe to see Macbeth but were not patient enough to wait in line 2 hours for stand-by tickets so we decided on Spamalot (see below)
Saint Paul's Cathedral
The Monument
Spamalot- Hilarious!!
DAY 3
Hitting the streets of London ...
I will say here that we never really came off east coast time and our routine became... sleep in late- take the tube into the city, start with lunch and stay out until around mid-night. Here we are at our worst meal of the trip- bad food, a grouchy waitress, water with no ice but an awesome location on Leister square.
Also in Leister Square The Book of Mormon Musical- no we didn't have tickets nor do we want tickets but we couldn't have them even if we had wanted them as they are sold out through 2014.
A little family of swans in St. James Park. I will spare you all the bird pictures but it was one of my favorite stops and I saw a lot of "life"birds.
On to Buckingham Palace...
Andrew are you spying on the Queen?
Model Men
Marble Arch
Back to our old hotel where we stayed with the MDI Band. "The Cumberland"
Bike trip through Hyde Park
Biking was one of the favorite events of our trip and should have served as a warning of what was to come when I had a car- as I had a difficult time remembering which side of the path to ride on...
A very strange restaurant.
DAY 4
The British Museum
Mummy Cats
What is this strange beast?
The Natural History Museum
Harrods
We rode up and down the Egyptian escalator and visited the $1200 kittens on the pet floor.
WICKED
This Show was WICKED GOOD !!!
Day's 5 & 6
JULY 20, 2013
THE ENGLISH WEDDING
GLEN & LIZ
MILBURN
Glen's younger brother's Archie and Jacob
Logan sandwiched between the Australian's Kyall and Josh
Signing the guest book a message for Glen

Hiking on the White Cliffs of Dover
DAY 8
Windsor Castle and Hampton Court
Another Maze... but much easier
I look happy here in this little car but only because my time in it is about to be over!
I wasn't a very good English driver... I traumatized my passengers, annoyed several Englishmen (they do use American swear words) and almost gave myself a nervous breakdown- but we all survived and there wasn't a scratch on the car when I returned it!
Here's to our Travellodge's .... New Cross Crawley Stanstead Feltham
and that's a wrap on our 8 amazing days in London Town 2013!
